Our CNC machined transparents parts were mainly machined from PC or PMMA.After milling and then with high polish treatment to make them totally transparent. • Milling is the process of using a spinning, multi-tooth cutter to "carve" a solid block of material into a precise, non-cylindrical shape. Commonly used to making square, rectangular, or highly complex parts
• Milling Capability: 3-Axis, 4-Axis, and 5-Axis CNC milling
• Tolerance: Following ISO 2768 Standards
• Typical Components: Complex Brackets, Molds, Enclosures, Prototypes, and Custom 3D-shaped components.
• Materials: Aluminum, Steel and Stainless Steel, Titanium, PEEK, PC, PMMA, POM, PA, PP etc

When you need to machine the parts in transparent materials. Normally PMMA or PC would be the first choice. Choosing the wrong material that either lack sufficient strength or suffer from severely compromised transparency... What's the different between them? Generally speaking, PMMA with better transmittance and PC with stronger impact resistance.

PMMA: The light transmittance is up to 92%-Surpassing even glass-however it is brittle and prone to cracking.

PC: With less light transmittance, but with strong impact resistance, it is susceptible to scratching and tends to yellow over time.

Also, PC is easier for machining and PMMA will be a little bit more difficult. So if light transmittance is not so important. Then PC Transparent machining would be cost effective

Both PC and PMMA, the raw machined surface is typically frosty or matte due to microscopic tool marks.

To achieve true optical transparency, normally two-stage finishing process will be involved

First, Vapor Polishing-using solvent vapors to momentarily melt the surface layer, leveling out tool marks via surface tension, resulting in a glass-like finish without altering part geometry.

Second, if the parts requiring edge clarity or specific surface hardness, then apply Flame Polishing followed by a UV-cured hard coat to prevent scratching during assembly
