Laser cutting involves directing a high-power-density laser beam at the material to be cut, rapidly heating it to its vaporization temperature and creating a hole through evaporation. As the beam moves across the material, these holes form a continuous, narrow kerf (approximately 0.1 mm wide), thereby completing the cut.

 

Laser cutting equipment is quite expensive, typically costing over 1.5 million RMB. With the ongoing development of the storage tank industry, an increasing number of sectors and enterprises are utilizing storage tanks, and more companies are entering the field. However, the equipment remains a viable option for mass production because it reduces the costs associated with subsequent processing steps.

 

Since there are no tooling costs, laser cutting equipment is also suitable for producing small batches of components in various sizes that might otherwise be impossible to manufacture. These systems typically utilize Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology, which allows cutting data to be received from a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) workstation via telephone lines.
