Stamping is a manufacturing process in which external force is applied to materials-such as sheets, strips, tubes, and profiles-using a press and a die to induce plastic deformation or separation, thereby producing workpieces (stampings) of the desired shape and dimensions. The raw materials used for stamping are primarily hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheets and strips.
Flat steel products account for 60% to 70% of global steel output, with the majority being processed into finished goods via stamping. Components such as automotive bodies, chassis, fuel tanks, and radiator fins; boiler drums; vessel shells; and silicon steel laminations for electric motor and appliance cores are all produced through stamping. Stamped parts are also widely used in products such as instruments, home appliances, bicycles, office machinery, and household utensils.
