Products Description

Injection Molding with Metal Inserts is a process to make the components no need secondary assemble to metal parts. The metal parts can be Inserts or Clips or other machined components. Like Stainless steel, brass…The critical point is the Metel Inserts must withstand the injection molding temperature (Typical: 150-300°C). At XC Precision, the most often we do was injection molding with the brass insert or sheet metal clips.

What is Insert Injection Molding Process?

Injection Molding with Metal Inserts is also called Insert injection molding. It is a specialized manufacturing process where a pre-formed component (the metal inserts) into a mold cavity before plastic injection. The molten plastic is then injected around the insert, encapsulating it and forming a single, integrated part after cooling. Injection Molding with Metal Inserts can have the following advantages:

Eliminates secondary assembly (e.g., gluing or screwing inserts afterward).

Provides strong mechanical bonding (plastic shrinks around insert).

Reduces part weight compared to all-metal alternatives.

Improves precision and repeatability.

The Common Injection Molding Defects and Solutions

Defect

Appearance

Main Reasons

Solutions

Sink Marks

Surface depressions or dents

Insufficient Pressure or uneven wall thickness

Increase pressure; Optimize wall thickness design

Flash

Excess material at edges

Insufficient clamping force or worn mold

Increase clamping force; repair or replace mold

Weld Lines

Visible linear marks on surface

Low temperature at material flow convergence points

Increase mold temperature; improve venting

Warpage

Product distortion and deformation

Uneven cooling / molecular orientation

Optimize cooling channels; adjust gate design

Silver Streaks

Silvery or streaky marks on surface

Un-dried material moisture

Fully dry raw materials before casting

Burn Marks

Yellow or black spots on surface

Trapped gas ignited by compression

Improve venting; reduce injection speed

Short Shots

Incomplete filling of the mold cavity

Insufficient injection pressure / low temperature

Increase injection pressure and temperature; enlarge gate size

Quality Control and Inspection Equipment

Inspection Equipment

At XC Precision, we ISO9001 certified. We take seriously on quality control, we have the standard quality process, with various inspection equipment and professional QC Team.

From raw materials incoming and during the machining process to final products for shipping. We strictly control the quality in each step.

  • Make sure the materials are correctly used.
  • Make sure the dimensions are strictly control within a high standard
  • Make sure the appearance are in perfect situation as customers' need

Each component should be passed the quality inspections and then go for shipping
