Guide to select the correct anodizing type and suitable aluminum alloy
Normally, only from the appearance, anodizing can be classified into clear anodize (natural anodize) and colorful anodize.
From the functional, it can be classified Type II and Type III. Type III is hard coating.
Hard coating normally has limit in colors, only black or dark gray as natural anodizing. The common Type II anodizing can flexible to be anodized with different colors.

- AL6061: Excellent uniformity for both clear or anodizing in color
- AL7075: Normally good and slightly darker in clear or anodizing in color
- AL2024: Clear Anodizing only, can show grain lines
- AL5052/5083: Reach Bright finish for both clear or anodizing in color
- AL6063: The best for bright finish for clear or anodizing in color
Besides that, a fine sandblasting before anodizing also can perform a more beautiful look.
