The cost structure of the stamping process is characterized by high tooling costs but low-to-moderate per-unit costs. Typical products include components for vehicles, furniture, kitchenware, and electronics; the process is well-suited for mass production, offering high surface precision and rapid forming speeds.

 

Stamping is primarily categorized into cold stamping and hot stamping. Cold stamping is performed at room temperature and is the most widely used method. Hot stamping involves forming at high temperatures, which reduces the required stamping force; additionally, the steel undergoes quenching after forming to yield high-strength components, making it ideal for manufacturing automotive structural parts such as door beams, bumpers, and A- and B-pillars.

 

Sheet metal, press equipment, and dies are the three indispensable elements of the stamping process; together, they form the core of the operation.
